In this post I am going to manifest my dreams over a prolonged period of time. In the near future I will paint a series of paintings of all of these dreams. As I paint each dream I will then post a photograph of the completed painting under the dream in which it resembles.
Intrigued by dreams and meanings as an artist I have a mysterious fascination to express my dreams through and present them to the world. The precedence of dreams and their meaning has had a significance to Native American Indians for centuries. Although my dreams at times can be frightening I truly believe they all have a meaning in which should be displayed.
Dream 1: The Serpent
Last night I dreamed of a snake attacking the one in my life whom I love and cherish the most in life.
What is the meaning of snakes in dreams you may ask. Snakes are symbolic of different things. Snakes are often seen as symbols of life, death and rebirth. In North American native tribes, the shedding of the snake's skin is associated with life and a new beginning.
In a writing about Snake Symbolism, Gillian Holloway, Ph.D. wrote, "People who are dying or who have lost a loved one often dream of snakes, at or near the time of death. For whatever reason, these dreams seem involved with the psychic awareness of the transition from this life to the next...."
Snakes are also seen as symbols representing evil. In other cases the snakes is seen as a phallic symbol.
It is said that recurring dreams indicate a fear or an unresolved issue. One way to deal with the recurring dream of the snakes is to try lucid dreaming. This is when you become conscious in your dream and are aware that you are dreaming.
However, lucid dreaming is not possible for me. I am not able to perform this technique. I often suffer from sleep paralysis when I sleep. It is said to be a heredity disorder. I do recall my mother telling me a few years ago she suffers from this also. It seems to get worse the older I get. Often times when I wake up from this I feel like all the energy has been sucked from my body.
Dream 2: The Large Dinosaur Like Creature
He walks through a valley of the most vivid purple colored flowers and grazes as if they were planted just for his appetite. While previously being blamed for picking all of the dainty fresh blossoms the people of the village watch over the large creäture as he exposes his taste for the flowers. Along with the villagers I stand by and admire the dinosaur like creäture. With no concern of the outside world he eats away. Content with what he has devoured he then strides off into the woods. Maybe he will return another day for a feast again.
Research and studies state to see a dinosaur in your dream signifies an outdated attitude. This animal has been wiped out for millions of years; this callous being lives on in our thoughts and dreams. To see in your dream a dinosaur’s body is a sign of treachery in society. To see a fallen dinosaur signifies a loss of adolescence.
