Part of the Teton branch of the Sioux nation there is not much known for certain about White Cloud. What is clear however, is the dignity and pride with which he carries himself. Most certainly a warrior of standing within his tribe.

This Ojibwe woman named Sha Wen Ne Gun comes from the same tribe I am of. As part of my Idle No More series I sensed an urgency to include Sha Wen Ne Gun and recreate her portrait in my own way from Eastman Johnson's version.
A well known American portrait painter/sketcher Eastman Johnson once sketched Sha Wen Ne Gun in 1857. Eastman Johnson was known as the American Rembrandt in his day. Johnson was successful in getting many Ojibwe to sit for him as subjects.
My Idle No More Series will consist of 100 pieces to include members from tribes throughout the United States and Canada. This will include early photos from the early 1900's on back as far as the 1500's. Our people are not to be left silenced and unheard. With this series our ancestors will live again and be Idle No More. The originals will be a traveling gallery which will move from one location to the next to share with the people of this land.
Although, no originals will ever be for sale prints are available. If you wish for a signed print directly from me please feel free to email me.

It is a Spanish word for village. The Pueblo People are the decedents of the Anasazi People. But to keep things straight, many historians use the year 1300 CE to make the switch from Anasazi People to Pueblo People.
Women taught the girls to cook and to make pottery. The men taught the boys how to hunt and weave. The kids had strong bonds with both parents, and a huge extended family that included grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Pueblo families shared their belongings. Kids did not have anything of their own. Everything belonged to everyone in the family.

Many years ago the Apache rode free across the valleys and mountains of southwestern United States, including what is now Arizona. The land, like the Apache, was rough but noble. Sunset mountains cut across miles of desert sands. Only the hardiest plants survived in the harsh conditions found on the faces of these towering rocky cliffs. The mountains and surrounding desert landscape kept the Apache safe from enemies far longer than other tribes who had settled in more fertile, and far more open areas. In the end, however, encroachers came searching for the precious metals contained within the mountain rock and the Apache way of life was destroyed.
The Apache fought fiercely to defend their homes and families. They maintained their strong fighting spirit even though the odds were against them. Small groups of Apache warriors made life miserable for their enemies, hoping to drive the intruders away. They raided campsites, stealing horses and cattle. They ambushed supply caravans, taking food and weapons for their own use. They attacked when least expected, catching their enemies off guard. For awhile tactics of the Apache warriors worked, but the lure of gold and silver proved too strong. The men, with no regard for the Apache or his land, were determined to establish their settlements and seek their fortunes in the mountains. Finally, a large cavalry unit was sent out to hunt down the Apache warriors.
A warrior party of seventy-five Apache galloped to the top of a pink-hued mountain, chased closely behind by the cavalry. The warriors wheeled their horses around, realizing they were trapped. Behind them, the sheer face of the mountain plummeted hundreds of feet to the desert floor. In front of them, hundreds of cavalry officers circled, guns in hand. At a signal from their leader, the officers fired. In the first round of shots, fifty Apache died. The remaining twenty five warriors were trapped and faced death at the hands of their enemies. These men knew there was no way out. Rather than be killed by the enemy, the remaining Apache warriors spun their horses around and leaped over the edge of the mountain.
When the Apache women and children discovered their fathers, husbands, and sons dead at the bottom of the cliff, their tears fell. Each tear drop, as it hit the hard, dry earth, turned to black stone. They mourned the death of their warriors. They mourned the loss of their fighting spirit. They mourned the life they had carved in the Arizona desert. Soon the ground at the bottom of the mountain, once bleached white from the searing sun, was blackened by Apache tears. It is said that a person who finds one of these tears beneath Apache Leap Mountain will never need to cry again, for the Apache women cried tears for all who mourn. These beautiful translucent gemstones are now known as Apache Tears Good Luck Stones.

Pari Chumroo focuses painting and drawing a significant gallery of artwork. Her pieces range from one country to the next as well as expressing one culture to the next.

She is currently working on her gallery series titled, "Idle No More". This when finished will contain over 100 original charcoal sketches she is creating from historical photos. The photos are of the Native Americans from the people of all the nations as far back as the early 1800 and 1900's.

Her next series will be all oil painting of large size and quantity. Depicting history as well and revealing a collections no man would even think one would take time to create. Sacred and dear to her heart this subject of creation has long been placed on her heart and spirit to be created. Pari feels no time is better to begin this creation than the year 2015.

As each series she producing get longer and more intense she is finding that the art heists are growing. It has been brought to the company Pari Chumroo Fine Arts that without consent reproductions and reprints are being produced on a daily basis. Pari Chumroo herself when asked how she feels about this states the following," Like France notated to me many years ago...Let them steal them. All the more power to those who take. If it makes them feel as if they are a valued person by hanging a stolen piece of art from me. France made it clear to me Mona Lisa became famous by being stolen. To those whom are art collectors and have the privileged of honestly purchasing an original know that that piece you have is in fact protected and proved to be an original with my DNA implanted in each piece." Pari also states, "To God be the glory." In the end you can't take it with you when you go.

Reproduced in "300 painting and 2,000 advertisements during the 20th century the Mona Lisa was stolen. This very piece was an object for mass reproduction, merchandising, parody, and deliberation. Mona Lisa was among many and not the "most famous painting" in the world as it is termed today, until the 20th century.

The avant-garde art world has made note of the undeniable fact of popularity of the Mona Lisa. In 1954, Salvador Dali, painted Self Portrait as Mona Lisa. Salvador was also known for his surrealist work. Andy Warhol, who was famously for his The Scream painting , also created serigraph prints of multiple Mona Lisa's titled Thirty are Better than One. A French urban artist known as Invader created renditions on city wall in Paris and Tokyo using his trademark mosaic style. The Mona Lisa to this day continues to inspire artist around the world.

In the end, if Pari Chumroo inspires people or others artist, she has reached her goal as an artist of making a lasting impression. Feel inspired yet? If not, wait until God speaks through her next series and Christ reveals an abundance.
That "something" varies from image to image. A great culture with an abundance of history that well deserves respect and pride.

Preservation for native people is about values and traditions. Images can speak volumes through native people from centuries back to this date. When I draw or paint from a native historical photo I feel as if I am not only preserving history, but I am being the voice for those that were once silenced. "Idle no More" is the name of my Historical Native American Series.

History plays a vital role in our everyday lives. Learning through images seems to be the trend this day and age. "If we can preserve one day of the past into one day in the future with just one image then we have gained a lifetime" Pari Chumroo.

The first of my series began with "Weensizeneet. An Arapaho boy. ca. 1890" copyright Pari Chumroo .

The second is "Sleeping Native Papoose" copyright Pari Chumroo.

A papoose is an American English loanword whose present meaning is "a Native American child" or, even more generally, any child, usually used as a term of endearment, often in the context of the child's mother.

Moving forward the gallery is quickly growing with Pari's great determination.

This series if bringing emotional spiritual native feeling to me as an artist. History leads with confidence, boldness, and bravery when it uses native hands to speak.

The meaning of the Raven symbol signifies that danger has passed and that good luck would follow. According to Native American legends and myths of some tribes the Raven played a part in their Creation myth. The raven escaped from the darkness of the cosmos and became the bringer of light to the world. The raven is associated with the creation myth because it brought light where there was only darkness. The raven is also believed to be a messenger of the spirit world. It is believed that ravens who fly high toward the heavens take prayers from the people to the spirit world and, in turn, bring back messages from the spiritual realm. Other tribes looked upon the raven as a trickster, or shape-shifter, because of its ability to adapt to different situations.

-the civilization of a given people or nation at a given time or over all time; its customs, its arts, and its conveniences

-socially inherited artifacts

-fineness of feelings, thoughts, tastes, or manners; refinement

-the development of the mind or body by education or training
Culture, then, is commonly held beliefs, activities, social norms, and expressions of creativity within a group of people.

It is a refinement or development of talents and interests through exposure and training. It is the music, drama, holidays, entertainment, dances, art, sports, behaviors and values that define a society.

We call music, art, drama, and dance cultural arts because they are tools that help us develop the mind and body, refine feelings, thoughts, and tastes, and reflect and represent our customs and values as a society.

Moreover, David Bridburg utilizes famous western cultural icons in an exclusive form of art to define the western culture
in a unique way to the viewer.

One can choose to paint as they see it, while another paints as they feel it. I can teach you to paint, but the real question is: Can I truly teach you how to paint? I don't believe I can. Here is why.

As a child, I grew up getting scolded for doodling in school. Growing older, I kept the habit. In my earlier twenties this habit subsided and a new deadly one set in. I began drawing a calamitous future for myself each time I smoked a cigarette. It was 8 years ago the year 2006, that I remember going into the doctors for a physical. On that day I left feeling lost. The doctor looked at the family history of my mother and grandfather having cancer. She told me if I did not quit smoking cigarettes in 5 years I would be dead of cancer. Devastated, I told her to do whatever it took to aid me in quitting. So she did. She prescribed me chantix.

It was just a few days after that I went to visit my grandmother who was also an artist. Her tiny hands clenched the paint brush as I visited her. A petite table top easel held her primed canvas. A wooded forest with a river running through it in front of a log cabin. Blue skies and deep green trees. A bear running to the flowing waters to fish for his supper while an eagle took flight above the skies. "Grandma will you teach me how to paint"?, I asked her. "No, I will not because you already know how. Put the cigarette down, put the brush in your hand, and paint what you feel." I listened to her while thoughts rushed through my head. Will I live to see this cabin by the river in 5 years? Or will I live to paint what I feel?

I was fortunate enough to listen and take her advice. It was not the chantix that made me quit, it was my grandmother's words. I went home and produced a landscape piece where the eagles fly and I would go fishing in Manistee. It is boathouse called "Loomis Landing" where my friends and I would take a rest. In 2007 my grandmother fell ill with cancer. In 2009 she passed. I placed "Loomis Landing" under her tiny hands before they closed her casket and she safely guards that piece to this day.

Relishing painting from my feelings, I continue to create each day. With a full range of styles and mediums I am not only able to express a world of cultures but also paint what I sense. I enjoy painting not photographing. Rather than a photograph I prefer a painting. It captures the heart and soul of each subject. My recommendation for those out there whom to learn to paint is the same advice that little Chippewa Indian grandmother of mine gave me: "Paint What You Feel".Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11498012861018969425noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6090831029261030018.post-75159513208588585712014-09-24T18:36:00.000-07:002014-09-24T20:36:02.028-07:00What is Cultural Art?

There is a broad variety of definitions when speaking of culture. Culture can be defined in many ways.
Maybe now you are questioning: Why do I reference to Sociology, Anthropology, Biology, Agriculture, and Greek Culture, French Culture, English Culture, Indian Culture, Native American Culture, Japanese Culture, etc...? Some may think of culture as customs or traditions passed from one generation to another. While others think of culture as a way of living for a person that is not exactly passed on throughout generations. Culture can be expressed with art in the form of biology, sociology, anthropology, agriculture, and Greek culture.

Anthropology of art is a sub-field in social anthropology dedicated to the study of art in different cultural contexts. The anthropology of art focuses on historical, economic and aesthetic dimensions in non-Western art forms, including what is known as 'tribal art'.

Sociological Art is an artistic movement and approach to aesthetics that emerged in France in the early 1970s and became the basis for the Sociological Art Collective formed by Hervï Fischer, Fred Forest, and Jean-Paul
Thenot.

BioArt is an art practice where humans work with live tissues, bacteria, living organisms, and life processes. Using scientific processes such as biotechnology (including technologies such as genetic engineering, tissue culture, and cloning) the artworks are produced in laboratories, galleries, or artists' studios. The scope of BioArt is considered by some artists to be strictly limited to living forms, while other artists would include art that uses the imagery of contemporary medicine and biological research, or require that it address a controversy or blind spot posed by the very character of the life sciences.

Although BioArtists work with living matter, there is some debate as to the stages at which matter can be considered to be alive or living. Creating living beings and practicing in the life sciences brings about ethical, social, and aesthetic inquiry. The phrase "BioArt" was coined by Eduardo Kac in 1997 in relation to his artwork Time Capsule. Although it originated at the end of the 20th century through the works of pioneers like Joe Davis and artists at SymbioticA, BioArt started to be more widely practiced in the beginning of the 21st century.

Greek Culture, French Culture, English Culture, Indian Culture, Native American Culture, Japanese Culture, etc...are examples of cultures that we preserve throughout history and display throughout nations. This type of art expresses how a nation has lived, survived, and other things. This art tells a story throughout that can be seen throughout centuries. Not to mention in comparing these type of arts from year to year throughout the centuries it can also build a timeline for how a culture has changed and evolved from one tradition to the next.
Sgraffito is a technique of art produced by applying layers of oil pastels tinted in contrasting colours to a surface. Then scratching and outlining along with blending to produce a remarkable form of art.

Sgraffito with oil pastels to me is very fascinating. This technique can also be applied using other mediums such as oil paint, ceramics, other paints, and plaster. Experimenting with this technique has broadened my exploration into the art world.

Picasso manifested exceptional talent in his early years, He painted through his childhood and adolescence. Defining talents within begins with experimenting from the early years and progresses throughout many of our youth-hoods. The desire for a child to learn new techniques and learn colors is phenomenal. Witness as I enjoy at first hand these three little girls love for learning in the art world.
I have been on a two week trip through Boston and New York. While in Boston, on Friday my older niece had doctor appointments. So, I decided to take my other little niece, Ashley to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Intoxicated by the variety of art at the Museum, Ashley's visit to the Museum was quite learning curve. She was so thrilled at every form of art and painting she saw. What intrigued me the most of her visit was when we went into the India Gallery. Beautifully displayed were statues of each of the Hindu Gods. As she saw Shiva she pointed to him and said that is God. I said to her, "Ashley, how do you know this?" She then stated, "Because, Aunt Angel I just know in India this must be how they see God. Everyone does see him in their own way you know." This outing to the museum with Ashley was priceless.

Today is our last day in New York at my sister in laws cousin's house. I thought it would be a great idea to teach my niece Ashley and her cousins new art techniques. Birch trees are always fun and easy. When adding color to them they accentuate the beauty of the species. Together Breanna, Kimberly, Ashley and I created the most colorful forests that were full of bright birch trees.

My hopes for these talented girls are to be exceptionally prolific throughout the course of their lives just like Picasso. With no doubt they are geared in the right direction just as can be seen in their art below.

To all the parents out their who wonder if their child has talents; stop wondering now and feed their desires. A little paint brush and paint goes a long way. Picasso showed a passion and a skill for drawing from an early age. According to his mother, his first words were "piz, piz", a shortening of lápiz, the Spanish word for "pencil". From the age of seven, Picasso received formal artistic training from his father in figure drawing and oil painting. Ruiz was a traditional academic artist and instructor, who believed that proper training required disciplined copying of the masters, and drawing the human body from plaster casts and live models. His son became preoccupied with art to the detriment of his classwork.
With the busy rush of this day and age bringing work along while traveling can make travels more difficult. Traveling with painting equipment and supplies can be more difficult. Does it really have to be as hard as one perceives it though? Not really.

Currently I am traveling from Michigan to New York and Boston for a few weeks. Bringing along the utmost essential supplies and leaving behind the others. Packing light with one small bag is all that is needed.

Myself, I am able to work with any media. This gives life as an artist a wide variety. Not to mention, it accommodates access to an easier travel as an artist. My list below includes supplies that I brought along with me. Thus far, I have accomplished a few paintings with minimal supplies.

*Watercolor Pencils
*Watercolor Paper
*All Media Paper
*Variety of Sketch Pencils ranging from HB to 8B
*Totillion
*Charcoal Pencils (white and black)
*Sketch Pad
*Small container for a little water
*Black Ink
*Watercolor Brushes
*Small fine thin talon paint brush set (variety pack for detailing)
*Canon 600 HD camera
*SIM Cards (2-5)
Devoted to understanding the making of all things my mind always thinks of creative answers.

I decide to paint a story of all my mind goes through during this process. This can be seen throughout all my art pieces. As a cultural artist, ultimately it is a way to better understand the complexities and contradictions of this world.

I set a goal in life many years ago. To become the voice for all cultures where silence has taken over expressions throughout. Although, I like to define cultures within my pieces I also take pride in leaving a little mystery throughout.

I do my best in silence. At night when the world sleeps I love creating. Often times I will also enjoy times in the day in a room far from others. " In order to be open to creativity, one must have the capacity for constructive use of solitude. One must overcome the fear of being alone," wrote the American existential psychologist Rollo May. As an artist, I agree as I enjoy my creative solitude that melts onto the canvas and absorbs new life.

Then there are the times when gut-wrenching pain and heartache become the leading inspiration in my art. What may happen is that I will view the world as a safe place. Seeking out new adventures I will recall at some point in my life an event in which has shattered my positive perception. This will cause me to go on the periphery and see things in a new, fresh light. A light that is very conducive to my creative mind.
For what? Beating my head against a wall struggling to figure out new marketing techniques in the art world is painful. Especially when all this time the key to success is a the tip of my fingers.

Blogging is necessary in the art world. We live in a world of technology. By 2015 the average person will consume 15.5 hours per day of media consumption. According to Science Daily, a source for the latest research news. This includes time spent on television, social media, computer gaming, etc...

This is an abundant amount of time for humans to read information put out there by people such as myself. With new art being created and words being blogged this is a fantastic way of marketing.

Why do people want to know of a great artist? What was that artist thinking in there head when they painted that? Why do artist do things differently? What makes them unique in this world that after they die they appeal to others more?

These types of questions I will answer for you and many more in my posts within my blog.
Cultural arts help to explain the world in which we live. If I can
captivate others with the diverse cultures of this world I believe it is
through art.<u1:p></u1:p>

their different value systems. Where people shape their behavior and standards
different cultures form. Through art all aspects of a culture is presented. The
cultures music, art, literature, costumes, customs and traditions can be
displayed beautifully in art pieces.<u1:p></u1:p>

art. I have come to the conclusion that my time I spent, two years on the
tiny island of Mauritius is not tragedy. Instead it is a stepping stone in my
art life. I take the best from the worst that I endured on that island and turn
it around for the better.</u1:p>

religious festivals with dates that vary from year to year. However these are
public holidays, many other festivals like Holi, Raksha Bandhan, Père Laval

holidays.<u1:p></u1:p>

dates back to 1812, when the Champ de Mars Racecourse was inaugurated remain
very popular. My favorite jockey whom I got the privilege to watch live and bet
on is Robbie Burke. The first year I (Pari Chumroo) lived in Mauritius in
action for the first time in Mauritius for Maigrot Stable in 2010 was Robbie
Burke himself. Winning the Jockey’s Championship with 35 wins and a winning
percentage of 20%. I won the Barbe Cup with Gliding High during the season, a

Tatya Tope was a sworn enemy of the British and executed by the British Government on April 18, 1859. Playing the role as the great guru in the Jhansi Ki Rani series I watched while I lived in the country of Mauritius. While in confinement I was able to learn more of the Hindu culture and gain strength from the teachings. As he taught the queen of India (Manu aka Jhansi Ki Rani) I began to master new survival techniques against an enemy. I also found life through my fingers and pastels in Mauritus and created this piece while there. Characterizing the country of Mauritius is "Mauritius African Dance 3". The Sega Dance, mainly based on African music originated with slaves. It is nowadays on the island danced along the sandy beaches of the Indien Ocean. I was able to witness these sacred dances and capture the souls of the culture. It is a cry from the soul attempting to eclipse the tortures and heartaches from life. At the same time expressing the universal human desire for joy and happiness. It tells of the pride and the hardships of the peasants. It is a nostalgic heritage of the villagers. Today the Sega and its beat and dances are a part of Mauritian's everyday life.
A unique work, such as a painting or sculpture, that has appeared at auction more than once is considered “not fresh” to the market, and often attains much lower value than a work new to the market.
For the first time seen. It was at Muskegon Community College for months in a showing. "Shadowed Ballet Dancers" © Pari Chumroo Prints will never be available as this original was gifted from me to a very good friend Rachel Carlton. The proud new owner Rachel picked up the piece today. Please enjoy. Not all pieces are meant to be reprinted because I want the original to be kept special to the owner only.
A large sketch I rather enjoyed creating from a 3d shadow box I invented.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11498012861018969425noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6090831029261030018.post-7286648157941612992014-03-30T22:00:00.000-07:002014-03-30T22:00:20.211-07:00Through the Eyes of My Soul

As an artist, I work hard to develop paintings that speak of emotions both to me and to others about the beauty that exists in the diverse cultures throughout societies. Part of my process before I begin painting is to study and learn as much as I can about the specific culture as I am about to recreate on canvas. I do not merely want to capture the image with my brushes; rather, with careful, colorful strokes, I want to give that culture life and respect once more.
I try with every finished work to breathe life into a long forgotten culture so that its designs, ideas, innovations, and lifestyle are displayed on my canvas. The challenge, as with any recreated moment from the past, is to not caricature the moment and instead capture it in all its former glory. My artwork speaks, not only for me, but for people who were long ago silenced. As a Native American I am familiar with struggle in which the government tries to silence a culture to benefit themselves.
This for me is why I choose to paint and draw emotion and expression in a wide variety of cultures. I strive to make great voices heard from one end of the world to the next. A voice spoken is a world heard. If that means a voice through use of my art, that means a lifetime of expression for me. A voice others may not choose to echo but I will be that one who takes on that challenge.
If you can see it through my eyes, you have seen it through the world's eyes.
